• Bermuda grass is easy to establish from seed.
• Bermuda grass was brought to America in the 1500's from Africa via the Spaniards. Since that time has developed from the basic forage grass into one of the major grass species used on the most exclusive golf greens worldwide. This grass is a perennial sod former, dark green, drought resistant, low growing, fast repairing, and full sun, has fair salt tolerance, can be mown closely, forms a dense turf, goes into dormancy when temperatures drop below 60 degrees and greens up fast when temperatures rise. Once only grown from sod or sprigged, Bermuda grass is now readily available as seed in both common and improved varieties. Bermuda grass spreads by rhizomes and solons and is a highly diversified grass.
• Lawns planted in Bermudagrass can attain full lawn coverage in one year. It is not uncommon for seeded Bermuda lawns to be established within 60-90 days. This grass is one of the little warm season coverage that will grow a little further north in colder climates. It will turn brown at the first dip in temperature though. Look for more cold tolerant varieties. In the warmer tropical south, during average rainfall years, Bermuda will retain a beautiful green color all year round. This grass can be grown on low to high maintenance schedules depending upon the usage.

Tifway 419

Tifway 419 Bermuda is a very dense and fine textured hybrid bermuda grass. It is low growing and spreads rapidly. Its density, fine texture and soft blades provide a soft cushion in which to walk and play. Although not required, for those willing to devote extra time in maintenance, Tifway 419 will provide an extremely high quality turfgrass. Easton Sod Farms now has Certified Tifway 419 available. Recommended for residential and commercial landscapes, golf courses, parks and athletic fields.

• Manageable at 3/16 inch (5mm)... maintains good leaf density at mowing heights under 1.25" when mowed with reel mowers.
• Can be mowed at higher heights for general purpose home lawns (1.25 up to 3 inches) - Rotary mowers are fine for heights above 1.25 inches. - Most home / commercial lawns are best maintained at 1.5 to 2.5 inches for a good overall look. Rotary mowers can usually be used at heights above 1.5 inches.

Panama

Panama has excellent seedling vigor. Under ideal conditions, germination may begin within 10 to 14 days. Allow 14 to 18 days for completion. Full coverage may be attained in 4 to 6 weeks. If planting is occurring early or late in the season, more time may be needed for establishment.
• After most of the grass has filled in and when the blades of grass are 1/3 taller than your desired mowing height, you are ready for your first mowing. It is recommended that no more than 1/3 of the leaf blade be removed per mowing.
• Winter over seeding of dormant Bermuda grass may be done for year round green color, but is not generally recommended on turf less than 6 to 8 months of age. Immature turf may be damaged by the vertical cutting and scalping procedures, leaving it unable to compete with the over seeded species during the spring transition.
